My next challenge came when I adopted Arlo, an American Staffy x Mastiff. At 4 months old, Arlo came extremely over confident and over socialised. Arlo was reactive to dogs out of frustration, due to his over socialisation he would always want to go say hi. However, he was restricted by the leash and couldn’t. Which mean’t his fight or flight kicked in and was shown through barking and lunging. Arlo helped me as I began to understand more about dogs, their mind and behaviour through completing my Certificate 3 in Dog Training and Behaviour.

Unfortunately due to ongoing health issues, Arlo passed peacefully in January 2021.

The latest addition to the pack is Koda, a working line German Shepherd. Koda is everything I was looking for in my next dog and more. He has tested my knowledge, my skills and patience more times than I can count! All in the best ways of course.

Koda is fear reactive towards dogs, meaning he can bark and lunge at dogs in order to create distance. Koda has come such a huge way and is now actively choosing to ignore other dogs, choose me over anything else and is maturing into a phenomenal dog.

I am excited to continue our training together, realise Koda’s potential and explore the sporting side of dog training.
